DOROMB
Ezek alkotják a dallamot. Európában a XIV.
JEW’S HARP
A narrow metal tongue soldered to a metal frame sets the air in the cavity of the mouth vibrating. Besides the constantly sounding basic tone the harmonies are sounded by narrowing or expanding the cavity of the mouth. These then form the melody. It has been registered in European literature from the 14th century on, but it is to be found in all parts of the world. We, for example, encountered it in Japan where it is one of the favourite instruments of the Ainus. This type is made a bamboo and obviously is a more ancient form of the European metal jew’s harp. Around the turn of the century is was still widely known in Hungary as a children’s instrument, made by itinerant gipsy smiths.
