RE: The Castle Where The Bush-Putin Meeting Took Place

Your readers might be interested in the history of the castle, where presidents Bush and Putin met last Thursday. From 1278 until 1920 Bratislava was part of the Hungarian kingdom and from 1541 until 1784 it served as Hungary's capital. During that period, the castle was the residence of Hungarian kings. Hungary's kings continued to be crowned there until 1835. Bratislava (in Hungarian called Pozsony) was also the meeting place of the Hungarian diet until 1848.
At the end of WW1, when the kingdom of Hungary was dismembered, Briatislava was incorporated into the newly established state of Czechoslovakia. It is an interesting historical footnote, that neither the United States nor Russia have signed the French initiated Trianon treaty, which dismemberment of Hungary.
