1956-os Forradalom — October 23 National Day

Csárdás vagy Jártatós

Piros alma nem hittem, hogy édes légy
Régi babám nem hittem, hogy csalfa légy
Csalfasággal csaltad meg a szívemet
A jó isten borítsa rád az eget

Édesanyám ne tilts el a babámtól
Ha meg akarsz menteni a haláltól
Én nem bánom, édesanyám tagadj meg,
Mer' a szívem a babámért hasad meg

Édesanyám ha te tudnád, amit én
Milyen gyönge szívü lányod vagyok én
Olyan gyönge szívü lányod vagyok én
Ha kell, anyám meghalok a babámér'.

Piros virág, fehér virág, most nyílik
Szeretömet esküvőre most viszik
Meghallgatom, hogy tagad ki szívéből
Letépem a mirtuszát a mellyéről.

Sárgadinnye, görögdinnye inastól
Haragszik rám egy vénasszony fiastól
Ha haragszik, haragudjék magára
Nem szorultam az ő büszke fiára

Jobb ujjamra fordítom a gyürümet
Visszaveszem a régi szeretőmet
Mer' az ujjal mulatozom kedvemre
A régier' elhervadok örökre

Harmatos a kukorica levele
Utoljára voltam nálad az este
Utoljára fogtam ajtód húzóját
Szép csendesen köszöntem jó ejszakát

Szervusz babám, add ide a jobb kezed
Mer' én téged igazán szerettelek
Jártam hozzád sok esőbe, nagy sárba,
Látod babám, de mindig csak hiába

Red apple, I didn't believe that you were sweet
Old love, I didn't believe that you were unfaithful
You cheated my heart with unfaithfulness
May G-d make heaven crash down on you

My mother forbids me from seeing my sweetheart
If you want to save me from death
I don't mind, mother, banish me
Because my heart is breaking for my sweetheart

My mother, if you only knew what I do
What a soft-hearted daughter am I
I am such a soft-hearted girl
If I need to, I will die for my sweetheart.

Red flower, white flower is blossoming
My lover is being taken to the wedding
I will listen to how s/he forced me out of his/her heart
I'm going to take the wedding corsage off his/her chest.

Watermelon, honeydew, soft rind
The old woman and her son are agry with me
If they are angry, they can get angry with themselves
I never asked a favor from her proud son.

I put my ring on my right finger
And I take my first lover back
Because I can have a good time with a new one
I will mourn for the old one forever

The leaves of the corn are dewy
Last night was the last time I go to see you
For the last time I held the latch of the door
And quietly said goodnight.

My love, let me take your right hand
Because I really love you
I went to see you when it was raining and muddy
See, it was all in vain.
