MEZŐSÉGI BRÁCSA

A közép-erdélyi mezőségi zenekart három hangszer alkotja: a hegedű, a háromhúros brácsa és a bőgő. A brácsa három húrja a d’ g hangolású. A húrtartó láb egyenes. Így egy vonóhúzással mindhárom húr egyszerre megszólal. A régi stílusú, gazdagon díszített hegedűjátékot erősen ritmizált, modális jellegű tömör harmonizálás kíséri ebben az együttesben, mely a brácsa és a kisbőgő összjátékának eredménye.

VIOLA OF THE MEZŐSÉG

The traditional orchestras of Mezőség (central Transylvania) are made of three instruments: the violin, the three-stringed viola and the cello. The three strings of the viola are tuned to a, d’ and g. The bridge is straight, and thus all three strings are sounded simultaneously with one stroke of the bow. The traditional, richly ornamented violin style is accompanied in this ensemble by a strongly rhythmical, modal type pithy harmonization, which flows from the unity of execution of the viola and cello.
