István Csillag, Minister of Economy practically did the same as Elemér
Kiss, resigned Chancellery Minister: he gave at least net HUF 29,5 million
to the Research Institute of Finance of which he had been managing
director.

István Csillag, Minister of Economy and Transport practically did the same
as Elemér Kiss, recently fallen Vice Premier, Head of the Prime Ministers
Office and his business partner, András László, President of the National
Motorway Company whose dismissal has been proposed by István Csillag. The
Minister of Economy and Transport gave at least HUF 29,5 million as a
commission to the Research Institute of Finance of which he had been
managing director and vice general director. As it is known Elemér Kiss
was forced to resign because the lawyers office Forgács & Kiss, partly
owned by him and by András László, has received handsome state orders for
the past months.

István Csillags former workplace became lucky in a similar way: the
Research Institute of Finance won a tender in a HUF 314 million public
purchase process in the value of HUF 29,5 million from Mr Csillags
ministry from among 24 rivals. The subject of the tender was a study on
economic planning and strategy connected with the EU-accession, and the
Institute received almost 10 pc of the total sum. The Research Institute
of Finance is the workshop of liberal research workers who strongly
criticized the economic policy of the former government. A senior research
worker of the institute has been Ms Mária Zita Petschnig and László
Lengyel also belongs to the intellectual elit of this ultra-liberal
workshop as the minister Mr Csillag himself who had given his name before
2002 to the election programme of the Free Democrats (SZDSZ) as Managing
Director of the institute.

In the tender very highly appreciated rivals took part like the Economic
Research Centre of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the Economic
Informatics Centre of the University of Technology, Budapest, or ECOSTAT
Institute for Economy and Informatics working in the Hungarian Statistical
Office.
