Gyula Balogh, Deputy Chairman of the Independent Smallholders Party (FKGP)
called on Mónika Lamperth, Minister of the Interior and Lajos Ficzere,
chairman of the National Election Committe (OVB) to resign as it became
clear that his party collected more votes than it was announced after last
years elections. The affected persons would not resign but OVB will hold
an emergency session today.

Gyula Balogh yesterday announced in a press briefing that Mónika Lamperth,
Minister of the Interior and Lajos Ficzere, chairman of the National
Election Committee (OVB) recognized in an official letter addressed to
FKGP that the votes on the Independent Smallholders Party were mistakenly
summarized. Previously Miklós Réti, chairman of FKGP had written a letter
to Lajos Ficzere claiming his party received more votes than acknowledged
by OVB (0,76 %). In his letter of response Mr Ficzere recognized this,
stating that FKGP obtained 0,979 % of the votes. This has been confirmed
by Mónika Lamperth, Minister of the Interior, too. This error means 26 000
votes missing while the outcome of the national elections was decided by
1500 votes. Gyula Balogh said, Viktor Orbán was right to say that
elections were cheated away, and it was probable that similar errors could
be found in the case of other parties. Lajos Ficzere told Magyar Nemzet
that data announced by OVB were significant only from the point of view of
the budget support of the political parties. Emilia Rytkó, leader of the
National Election Office said she wanted to confirm the election results
published in the Hungarian Gazette (Magyar Közlöny) last year, all other
data were false. János Zlinszky, constitutional lawyer said if the
election result was not correct in the case of a party, it logically
implied the error in all results of parties.
