Csikszereda – The library of the Sapientia-Transylvanian Hungarian University of Arts and Sciences was officially opened on Tuesday in Csikszereda, Transylvania (now in Romania).
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Professor Szabolcs Lanyi, dean of the Romanian Hungarian private university's faculties in Csikszereda, termed the event a holiday.
Library director Laszlo Balog said the institution has been operating for a year now, however, the opening was held after the second reading room was completed. He said the library has 25,000 volumes, with many books received from legacies.
"The institution could not have been set up and could not be operated without the assistance of the Hungarian government," Mayor of Csikszereda Csaba Csedo said. He added the Romanian government must also accept a major role in the university's operation.
