The nationalist Matica Slovenska organization, which is notorious for its anti-Hungarian posture, said on 7 June that the establishment of a Hungarian-language university in Komarno would be a waste of money at a time when schools and universities throughout Slovakia are suffering from a lack of funds, TASR reported. Under a governing-coalition agreement, the Seyle Janos University in Komarno is to be inaugurated later this year. Matica Slovenska Chairman Jozef Markus said that those interested in studying in the Hungarian language will have no problem doing so in Hungary within a unified Europe, which Slovakia is about to join.
