Demostration in Kosice – Kassa – Kaschau in Eastern Slovakia against Slovakian language low

On 1st September, 2009 in town Kosice – Kaschau – Kassa the non governamental organization Artists for Human Rights arranged a meeting against the Slovakian language low. Mr. István Osza and Mr. Zoltán Balassa newspeaper-reporter expressed the common protest of the Hungarian minority by having a speach in front of the statue of one the bigest, well known, Hungarian writer Sándor Márai. Because Márai said: „What are you afraid of if you fight for the right idea? What can happen to you? (…) Anything changes the fact, that the idea you were fighting for was good and that is why it was also good what you were doing when you decided to do so.”

The fact that on the meeting a lot of civils came from this Eastern Slovakian town, Kosice and its around says, that the slovakian language low is discriminativ and disrespecting human rights.

The name of this protestation was From Babylon to Europe, what also wants to emphasises not to discriminate the Hungarian language in Slovakia.
