To the Editor,
On the 27th of November Romanians will elect their representatives in the EU Parliament.
Just as the Czechs had a Vaclav Havel and the Poles a Lech Walesa, the hero who brought down the Communist dictatorship in Romania was named Laszlo Tokes.
Today, Bishop Tokes is running as an independent candidate for the European Parliament. Naturally, the candidates of the Romanian political parties are doing all they can to defeat this born leader and advocate of collective human rights.
I know that Iraq, Iran, Pakistan and other areas are dominating the news, but in the long run, the post-Communist transformation of Easter Europe is also important and nothing is more critical for real regime change in Romania that getting Bishop Tokes elected.
Therefore I like to ask you to sent reporters to cover this important campaign.
