It was long ago when Hungarians in Transylvania swarmed in the information offices to know more about Hungarian certificates and about the necessary steps to obtain them. At the beginning of last year when the execution of the benefit law started, this increasing interest was understandable, and the number of applicants remained steady for several months.

The first news concerning the amendment of the law had a mobilising effect, but the long period of uncertainty and the stopping of benefits have lead to a total indifference of today. In the bigger Transylvanian towns inhabited by Hungarians there had been 8-10 information points working on schedule five days a week but in the last couple of months only a few people turn up in the remaining offices.
